Gaylin, a graduate of Jefferson City High School, in a year that will remain undisclosed, returned to Jefferson City in 2001. A graduate of Saint Louis University Law School, her and her husband, Justin have two almost adult children (i.e. they are still on Gaylin’s cell phone bill). Before law school, Gaylin was a high school history teacher and taught in Cairo, Egypt. As a teacher, Gaylin enjoyed her summers off traveling around the world in various locations as if she were still a college student. After a brief stint as a traveling carnie, she finally settled down and obtained her law degree.
First serving as law clerk to then Supreme Court Judge Mike Wolff, then joining the Cole County Prosecutor’s office as an assistant prosecutor. In 2009, Gaylin and Sara Michael formed Carver & Michael. Gaylin has been serving clients in all types of family law matters including dissolutions, paternity, custody, guardianships, and child support matters for the past twenty years. Additionally, Gaylin serves clients in matters related to estate planning and probate.
Gaylin enjoys her garden, her children (when they are not asking for money), her husband (when he is cooking her meals), and socializing with her friends. She can often be found at Bones when the work day has concluded. She also spends time on one or other diet and/or exercise regime and has been known to have lost and gained over fifty pounds in the last ten years.
She also serves the community as the elected City Prosecuting Attorney.
